Iseki Microtunneling
With years of successful use in the utility and civil sectors, microtunneling is a mature technology for installing large diameter infrastructure with tight line and grade tolerance. Based on our successful use of microtunneling in the civil sector, Target Trenchless has recognized the potential of microtunneling in the oil and gas sector across the middle east
A complementary technology to horizontal directional drilling, microtunneling can overcome some of the limitations of horizontal directional drilling and provide a solution that is more technically appropriate or more commercially viable in many cases.
Microtunneling uses a remotely controlled microtunnel Boring Machine (MTBM) and a pipe thrusting system to install either a casing pipe or the product pipe as the tunnel progresses. This eliminates the need for additional hole opening passes and provides continual advance of the tunnel supports.
The MTBM can be thrust forward using individual pipe segments assembled in the launch shaft. Alternately, the MTBM can be thrust forward using continuously welded steel pipe or steel pipe sections.
